FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday - Saturday: 8:00 AM - Noon & 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM. On Sundays we are open by appointment only at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. 

What are your rates for boarding?

Our boarding rates are $25.00 a night for dogs and $12.00 a night for cats. 

What are your rates for day care?

Our day care rates are the same as our boarding rates.

Are you open on holidays?

While our staff is here daily to care for your pets, our office is closed all major holidays. 

What vaccinations do my pets need before being admitted to Hickory Acres?

All pets MUST have proof of up-to-date shots before being admitted to our kennel.

Shot records can be faxed to us in advance or brought in at check-in. Please note that some veterinary offices will not fax records without your consent!

What happens if my pet becomes ill while at the kennel?

The first time you board your pet with us, you will sign an agreement stating that our staff has permission to seek medical treatment for your pet in the case of an emergency. We will always try to use your veterinarian first, but if this is not possible, we will use an emergency clinic locally. We will also confirm your emergency contact numbers each visit to ensure that we have a working telephone number to contact you or a friend in the event of an emergency. 

I noticed that Sunday pick up and drop off is by appointment only. Is there an extra charge for that day?

Yes. If you choose to pick up or drop off your pet on Sunday, we will charge an additional night's board to your bill. 

I'm interested in using your online reservation service. How does that work?

Making a reservation online is quite easy. Simply select the dates you would like your pet to board, the number of rooms you would like, the type of pet you are boarding, the number of pets you are boarding, your pet's weight, and then press 'Fetch' button. The next screen that appears will prompt you for an 'indoor/outdoor' run reservation. Click this radio button and press 'Book Now'. Please note: The average rate that you see next to the 'Book Now' button is based on a default daily rate and appears to be lower than the boarding rate stated on our website, which is based on a nightly rate. The difference in daily rate versus a nightly rate makes no difference in the grand total boarding rate for your pet! After you press the 'Book Now' button, the next page will ask you if you would like any additional services added to your pet's reservation. Make any selections you would like and press the green 'Continue' button. This will take you to the final page of the registration process where you will put in information about yourself, your pet, and your payment method. Please note that we do not store your credit card information or charge your credit card at the time you enter in your card number. Entering your card number simply confirms the reservation and you will still need to pay at the time you pick up your pet!

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks and credit card (Visa, MasterCard and Discover). 

Can I take a tour of the kennel before making a reservation?

Of course! Touring our facility gives you the opportunity to see where your pet will stay, meet the staff, and ask any questions you may have. No appointment is necessary for tours, but we do ask that you come during our posted hours.
